Code of Conduct 

Purpose

Black Association Executives (BAE) is committed to fostering a professional, respectful, and inclusive community that supports the advancement of Black association professionals and the organizations that serve them. This policy establishes expectations for member conduct and the use of BAE's name, logo, intellectual property, and community resources.
 

By joining BAE, members agree to comply with this policy and all other applicable BAE policies, procedures, standards, and governing documents, as may be amended from time to time.

Membership in BAE is a privilege and not a right. BAE reserves the sole and absolute discretion to determine membership eligibility, renewal, participation, standing, and compliance with its policies, standards, mission, values, and best interests.

 

Professional Conduct

Members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, ethical, and lawful manner in all BAE-related activities, including meetings, events, networking opportunities, online communities, and communications.
 

Members agree to:

• Treat all members, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, staff, partners, and guests with respect, professionalism, and courtesy.

• Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment.

• Engage in constructive and respectful dialogue.

• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and BAE policies.

• Support BAE's mission, values, and community standards.
   

Members shall not engage in:

• Harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, retaliation, or threatening behavior.

• Offensive, disruptive, abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, deceptive, or unethical conduct.

• Unauthorized recording of meetings, educational sessions, discussions, or events.

• Use of AI notetakers, recording applications, transcription tools, or similar technologies during BAE National meetings, educational events, programs, or discussions without the express written authorization of BAE National.

• Conduct that may reasonably be determined by BAE to damage the reputation, operations, integrity, cybersecurity, intellectual property, or interests of BAE.

• Any other conduct that BAE determines, in its sole discretion, to be inconsistent with its mission, values, standards, policies, or best interests.

 

Solicitation and Promotion

BAE encourages professional relationship-building and collaboration among members.
 

Members may:

• Share information about their organizations, services, and expertise in appropriate networking settings.

• Participate in discussions related to their professional experience and industry knowledge.

Members shall not:

• Engage in unauthorized solicitation, sales activity, lead generation, marketing, advertising, fundraising, commercial outreach, or promotional activity through BAE resources, platforms, events, or communication channels.

• Use BAE resources, directories, discussion forums, membership lists, communication channels, events, or programs for unauthorized commercial purposes.

• Send mass marketing or promotional communications to members without prior written authorization from BAE National.

• Misrepresent products, services, partnerships, affiliations, endorsements, sponsorships, certifications, or business relationships.

• Engage in conduct that BAE determines, in its sole discretion, to be inconsistent with the intended purpose of membership or detrimental to the interests of BAE or its members.

 

Use of Member Information

Member contact information is provided solely to support professional networking and community engagement.
 

Members shall not:

• Collect, sell, share, distribute, disclose, reproduce, transmit, publish, license, or otherwise exploit member information for unauthorized purposes.

• Create marketing or prospecting lists using BAE member information.

• Use member information for unsolicited marketing, fundraising, sales, recruitment, or promotional campaigns.

• Provide member information to any third party without authorization from BAE National.

• Use member information in any manner inconsistent with BAE's policies or applicable law.

 

Affiliate Member Participation

Affiliate Members play an important role in supporting the association community through products, services, expertise, and thought leadership.
 

Affiliate Members agree to:

• Conduct business ethically, professionally, and lawfully.

• Respect member privacy, confidentiality, proprietary information, and intellectual property rights.

• Represent products and services accurately and truthfully.

• Engage with members in a manner consistent with BAE's mission, vision, values, and policies.

• Comply with all Affiliate Membership requirements and standards established by BAE National.

Affiliate Membership does not provide:​

• Endorsement, sponsorship, certification, accreditation, or approval by BAE;

• Permission to market directly to members outside approved BAE channels; or

• Any ownership interest, entitlement, or right to continued membership.

Acceptance

By becoming a member of Black Association Executives, members acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Member Code of Conduct.
